This piece stands 2 and a half feet tall, 14 inches wide, 8 inches deep. Tin roses and leaves climb the weathered wood and bone carved base. Hand stamped tin and copper create the rays of the weathered wood cross. The body of Christ is carved from three pieces of Moose antler joined at the sholder blades.
The reversed side of the cross is the sacred heart, carved from Moose antler , mounted on a stamped copper plate. This piece was a donation to raise funds for the Legacy Art Auction, a program to raise funds for continuing education in the arts for students in NM. It is a dinner auction attended by many movie stars, country western singing stars and many other artists (i.e. Lou Diamond Philips, Henry Winkler, CSI's Amado Pena). "This piece has got 105 hand made , hand painted tin flowers, and copper accents around the outer edge of the tin. My largest cross to date standing at 5 foot, 2 inches tall. The Cristo is made from a huge 5 point shed elk antler with the base of the antler serving as the head of Christ. This is the first time I have used glass eyes in my work." Presented at Spanish Market, Santa Fe, NM 2005 This carving of Pope John Paul II is entirely carved from Moose antler grafted together. The piece stands approx 2 feet tall and has 150 hand made and hand painted tin roses, and between 5 and 6 hundred tin leaf's . Pope John Paul also has hand made glass eyes. " Full floral is a 2 foot tall cross made for a good friend in Chicago, it is a special cross for his sister for Christmas. I could'nt help but think of my sister while creating this cross, we lost her to cancer a few years ago. This is a mule deer antler crucifix, all the flowers are made from tin, and hand painted".
"Tom's cross is the largest cross I've made to date, it stands 4 feet 10 inches tall. The wood from this cross is made from a hundred year old bridge in Northern New Mexico. The crucifix is carved from a huge shed elk antler. Tom is the same man that commissioned me to make the Floral cross for his sister." "This cross is three feet tall carved from elk horn. The center layer of metal is copper. The top and bottom layer is hand stamped tin. The cross itself is old barn wood. This cross went to a good buddy that is doing the plumbing for my Gabbys house.....thanks Ross!
