"This very special piece is my first attempt at a full-figured carving.
Old rusty tin cans, weathered wood and glass make up the nitcho. The sides are rope-carved. The figure is elk antler.
This piece has been blessed in church more than any other piece I've carved. So special is this piece, I gave it to my daughter Gabrielle.
It was presented the Santos of New Mexico Award at the NM State Fair.
Hand-made roses at her feet, made one petal at a time, are created from rusty tin."
"This three foot piece is one of my personal favorites.
Carved from elk antler, the only added pieces of bone are the child's head and protruding arm.
The background is hand-painted to resemble turquois stone.
Each rose is hand-made, one petal at a time, and hand-painted.
This piece sold ten minutes after the opening of the 2002 Spanish Market."
"Carved from elk antler, Our Lady of Guadalupe resembles my mom, Adelina Montaňo, the most special woman in my life.
I love you mom.
The angel at the base is also carved from elk antler. All of the roses are hand-made.
The background is painted to look like clouds. This piece is 18 inches tall."
